Bollywood Songs Based on Waves, Ocean or River
Many Hindi / Urdu lyricists have created songs based on Waves of water whether it is of an ocean or a river. Here are some songs based on Leherein (waves), ocean or river.
1. Ganga Ki Lehrein (1964)
There is beautiful and melodious song from the movie Ganga Ki Lehrein (1964) sung by Kishore Da and others whose lyrics that mention waves (lehrein) is below:
Translation : Eagerly, moving with happiness in the air, the waves of the river Ganga are just like our companions. The literal meaning is little different here but the song is all about companionship of the river Ganga and the life of the humans.
2. Saagar
Saagar, a popular movie with Shashi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia as lead actors has a beautiful title song based on the word Saagar (ocean)
Translation : By the beach, my heart calls out (you) there is no one for me except you. Its a love song.
3. Anokhi Raat (1968)
Movie Anokhi Raat (1968) has a song picturised on Sanjeev Kumar, sung by Mukesh and has mention of thr words Taal (pond) and Nadi (river).
Translation : The pond water meets the river, the river meets the ocean eventually but no one knows with whom does the water of the ocean meets.
4. Dilli Ka Thug (1958)
Dilli Ka Thug (1958) is a movie which had Kishore Da and Nutan as main actors and this particular song which has a mention of the word Nadi (river) was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle. Here is the song:
Translation : These nights, this weather, this river bank and this flickering wind. The song is all about praising the beauty of nature at night.
5. Amanush (1975)
Amanush was a superhit movie with Uttam Kumar and Sharmila Tagore as the lead actors. It was first made in Bengali and then later remade in Hindi. Its title song Amanush sung by Kishore Da has the words Saagar in one of the stanzas. Here is that particular part:
