Babla Mehta : The Voice of Mukesh is No More
All of a sudden a few days ago I started seeing an old video on my feed of Babla Mehta recording a song in a studio followed by Gulshan Kumar holding his hand and introducing him to the public.
Gulshan Kumar ji annouched : "Main sab sangeet premiyon ko ek naye gaayak Babla Mehta apni nayi film Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahin mein pesh kar raha hoon."
Na Poochho Mera Dil Kahaan Kho Gaya,
Tujhe Dekhte Hi Tera Ho Gaya
Aankhon Mein Tu, Mere Khwabon Mein Tu Hai,
Yaadon Ke Mehke Gulaabon Mein Tu Hai.
I loved the song so much but somehow I knew in the back of my mind that i have heard this song somewhere but maybe I was not able to remember it because I had heard it in the voice of Kumar Sanu.
After two days, i.e., today on 27th July 2025 I came to know that Mr Babla Mehta is no more !
In the world of music he was known as the man with Voice of Mukesh ji because his voice texture was quite similar to Mukesh ji. Babla Mehta was launched by Gulshan Kumar ji, founder of T Series. After stepping into the world of music Babla Mehta sand many film as well devotional songs (Bhakti Geet).
Babla Mehta was born in a family where the music was valued a lot.
Babla Mehta's Music Projects
Since Babla Mehta's voice was similar to Mukesh hence Gulshan Kumar with T Series remade a song named Zubaan Pe Dard Bhari Daastaan Chali Aaayi sung by Mukesh ji in Babla's voice. This song became such a hit that it used to be played continuously in Buses and Auto Rickshaws. There used to be a high demand at the music recording shops for this particular song in the voice of Babla Mehta.
After the success of this song, Babla Mehta re-sang many other songs sung by Mukesh.
Followed by this Babla Mehta lent his voice for a popular song (Tere Mere Honthon Par) for the film Chandni (1989) and also Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin.
Some popular songs by Babla Mehta are:
1. Tere Mere Honthon Par from the film Chandni (1989).
2. Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin from the movie Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991).
He also sand many devotional songs ouot of which the following were very popular :
1. Main Baalak Tu Maata
2. Aa Maa Aa Tujhe Dil Ne Pukaara
You must have heard the song Tu Pyaar Hai Kisi Aur Ka, Tujhe Chahta Koi Aur Hai, isn't it. It was first sung by none other than Babla Mehta.
All the fans of Babla Mehta are in sorrow after they got the news of his demise. Death of such a great singer has caused a loss to the world of music indeed.
